PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (AP) _ All but one of the U.S. Baptist missionaries charged with kidnapping in Haiti have now been released, but the group’s leader remains in custody.

Charisa Coulter was taken from her jail cell to the airport by U.S. Embassy staff on Monday — more than a month after she and nine other Americans were arrested for trying to take 33 children out of Haiti after the earthquake.

A defense lawyer said she was released because there was no evidence to support the charges. He predicted that Laura Silsby, the leader of the group, will also soon be released.

The judge released the other eight Americans last month after concluding that parents voluntarily gave up their children in the belief that the missionaries would give them a better life.

WASHINGTON (AP) _ President Barack Obama meets with his faith-based advisory council today to get its recommendations on issues ranging from poverty and climate change to reforming the Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships.

Critics have urged the office — a holdover from the previous administration — to withhold funding from religious charities that hire only fellow believers, but it’s unclear if that will be discussed.

Under President Obama, the faith-based office’s policy goals include “reducing the need for abortion” — an issue that is not on today’s agenda.

But the advisory council is scheduled to discuss interfaith cooperation, which will be needed since its 25 appointees range from Catholic, evangelical and liberal Christians to Jews, Muslims and the religious director of a gay rights group.

JOS, Nigeria (AP) _ Security forces have imposed a curfew in central Nigeria after rioters armed with machetes slaughtered more than 200 people in renewed violence between Muslims and Christians.

Hundreds of people have fled their homes, fearing reprisal attacks.

Local journalists and a civil rights group say the bodies of the dead lined the streets of three mostly Christian villages south of the regional capital of Jos.

The city lies in a region separating Nigeria’s Muslim north from the predominantly Christian south.

Witnesses who escaped the massacre said they believed the attackers were Muslims.

The Red Cross says Nigerian military units are surrounding the three affected villages.

The church is inviting the public to its services this Sunday to recognize the life of the Rev. Fred Winters. Winters’ widow, Cindy Winters, will be one of the speakers.

Winters was shot to death on March 8, 2009. Terry Sedlacek was charged with first-degree murder but has been declared mentally unfit to stand trial.

NEW YORK (AP) _ For becoming a Christian and helping Israeli intelligence fight Hamas, Mosab Yousef has been disowned by his father — a founder of the Islamic militant group.

But the author of the memoir “Son of Hamas” says he now worships a God who will never disown him.

Since leaving Islam, Yousef has come to believe that the more closely Muslims follow Allah and Muhammad, the more they become inhuman terrorists. In an Associated Press interview, Yousef said, “The biggest terrorist is Allah of the Quran, the god of the Quran, the god of Islam.”

But Yousef doesn’t view himself as having changed religions. He says, “I am not a religious person today. I am a Jesus Christ follower. It’s a matter of a relationship.”

Wildmon says his resignation follows months of health problems, including hospitalizations for treatment of encephalitis, which he got from a mosquito bite, and cancer on his left eye.

The 72-year-old Wildmon says he’ll continue to work at AFA, while his son Tim leads the ministry.

Don Wildmon, a retired Methodist minister, founded the group in

The group changed its name in 1988 to the American Family Association, which now has a $20 million budget, 180 radio stations, a monthly magazine and an Internet presence.

Saint-Vil previously freed eight other Americans detained with the pair for trying to take 33 children out of Haiti without proper papers.

International Christian Concern reports that hundreds of Iraqi Christian families have fled Mosul in recent weeks to escape “targeted killings” there.

Insurgents have often targeted Iraqi Christians. Last week, Iraq’s government promised to provide extra security to Christians in Mosul.

On Monday, the United Nations Special Representative in Iraq expressed concern about attacks on Christian and minority candidates in the run-up to Sunday’s election in Iraq.

The U.S. hopes the election will produce a stable government that could ease withdrawal of American troops from Iraq by the end of next year.

BOONE, N.C. (AP) _ The Reverend Billy Graham has retired from preaching, but the 91-year-old evangelist is still writing books and offering spiritual counsel to callers and visitors.

The Reverend Franklin Graham says his father has spoken on the phone in recent months with President Barack Obama and former President George W. Bush, and was visited by former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.

The younger Graham says his father recently finished updating his 1992 book “Storm Warning,” and is currently working on another book, but slowly — typically an hour of work followed by a nap.

Billy Graham’s glib father-son advice, according to Franklin, was: “Don’t get old.”
