Grieving the Loss of a Parent, a program for adults grieving the loss of a parent will be held six Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 August 10- September 14 at Catholic Family Services, 523 N. 09/08/2010 - Bible Studies at Calvary Baptist Church
Calvary Baptist Church, 2407 Broadway Avenue in Yankton, SD, will offer the following Bible studies to the Yankton community beginning Wednesday, September 8 and Thursday, September 9:JOY IN THE MORNING at 9:00 a.m. There will be fellowship, treats and free childcare - either Track A OR Track B. Track A : Here and Now...There and Then by Beth Moore. This is a lecture series on the book of Revelation and will be the featured study for Joy in the Morning and Fire By Night. The video sessions are longer than usual but the homework is light. Track B: Shepherding a Child's Heart, by Tedd Rip is the Mom-to-Mom feature. This is a video-drive study that teaches parents how to speak to and train the heart of their child. It also trains the parent in what parenting goals should be and how to practically pursue those goals. It is written for parents with children of any age. JOY KIDS is the Wednesday morning child-care program available for pre-school children during Joy in the Morning. Children will be involved in age-appropriate activities including a Bible lesson and craft. A nursery will also be available for infants. All child-care programs are free. at 11:30 a.m. at the Douglas Street Reception Room 325 Douglas (next door to Stevens Chiropractic). (Please note the corrected date. The literature mailed out had the incorrect date.) The Life-Changing Power in the Blood of Christ by Jennifer Kennedy Dean will be the featured study. This an 8-week video-driven interactive study weaving together Old Testament imagery and New Testament teaching with facts of science and biology. No child-care is available. MID-DAY MEAL ere and Now...There and Then.FIRE BY NIGHT begins Thursday evening September 9 at 7:00 p.m. in the Youth Theater at Calvary. There will be free child-care, treats and fellowship. Showcasing family teamwork, tight harmonies, and award-winning bluegrass pickin', the Wissmann family's array of instruments includes guitar, bass guitar, violin/fiddle, banjo, mandolin, harmonicas, hammered dulcimer, keyboard/piano, trumpet, flute, and harp. September 10th is the last day to sign up for the Women of Faith Conference!Want to have a great weekend with the girls? We are taking a group of women to the Women of Faith Conference in October. We are going to have a TON of fun! There will be prizes handed out during the bus trip, and everyone will receive a free gift bag!We will leave Thursday, October 21st at noon. We will head to the Mall of America, then our hotel. We will attend the conference on Friday and Saturday, with another chance to go shopping at the Mall of America Friday afternoon. At the Purity Ball, daughters, ages 12 and older, gain a deeper understanding how important a decision to remain pure until marriage is and fathers gain understanding about how much influence they have in their daughters decision to remain pure until marriage. 09/12/2010 - United! Choir and Band Musical at Summit Church
In remembrance of 9/11, the patriotic worship celebration UNITED! will be presented Sunday, September 12 at 10:00 a.m. at Summit Church,1000 South Main Street in Alta, Iowa. The musical features a 50-voice community choir and 5-piece band in an encore performance of their highly acclaimed presentation on July 4. Following the service at Summit everyone is invited for a free picnic lunch on the west lawn. The musical will also help launch a new fall sermon series on the Book of Ruth entitled Find Your Way: an immigrants journey of redemption, and small group home Bible studies on the same theme. Regular service times are 8:30 and and 11:00 a.m. with classes for all ages at 9:45 and will resume on Sunday, September 19. Adult Bible Fellowship classes will explore Gospel in Life resources to put our faith into action in our everyday lives as we reach to everyone around us. More>>
