(AP) _ AN ECONOMIST FOR GOV. DENNIS DAUGAARD’S OFFICE PREDICTS THAT SOUTH DAKOTA’S ECONOMY AND TAX COLLECTIONS WILL CONTINUE TO GROW, THOUGH NOT FAST ENOUGH TO PROVIDE MUCH HELP IN SOLVING THE STATE’S BUDGET PROBLEMS.

BUT THE LEGISLATURE’S STAFF PREDICTS HIGHER TAX COLLECTIONS, PARTLY BECAUSE LEGISLATIVE ANALYSTS EXPECT THE SALES TAX TO BRING IN MORE THAN HAD BEEN EXPECTED EARLIER.

THE ECONOMISTS PRESENTED REVENUE ESTIMATES THURSDAY TO THE LEGISLATURE’S JOINT APPROPRIATIONS COMMITTEE, WHICH WILL USE THOSE ESTIMATES TO PUT TOGETHER NEXT YEAR’S STATE BUDGET.

THE GOVERNOR HAS PROPOSED A 10 PERCENT CUT IN NEARLY EVERY STATE AGENCY TO CLOSE A $127 MILLION BUDGET GAP. THE GOVERNOR’S BUDGET OFFICE DOES NOT EXPECT REVENUE TO GROW MUCH MORE THAN PREVIOUSLY PREDICTED. LEGISLATIVE ECONOMISTS EXPECT $25 MILLION MORE REVENUE IN THE NEXT TWO YEARS.

Since that date, KNWC Radio (Faith 1270)  has been sharing Christ and His good news to the Sioux Empire.
