IDAHO (ChristianPost) – The U S Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit heard arguments on a 2010 decision to prohibit an Idaho charter school from using the Bible in western civilization class. Attorney David Cortman of the Alliance Defense Fund asked the court to throw out the ban. He said, “The government’s hyperactive censorship of classical religious texts severely limits the education of students by leaving them with an incomplete understanding of history and their heritage.” Cortman is urging the court to consider the Bible’s historical and cultural presence in American history as well as a Supreme Court ruling protecting the religious book as an educational tool. The U S Supreme Court has ruled in the past that religious documents such as the Bible should be protected because of this federal precedent.
