Brushes of Hope – Hands and Feet
By Clayton Heeren • May 24th, 2010 • Category: Faith 1270 Hands and Feet, Life ConnectionIt took about 8 hours for 8 of us to prime and paint an entire ranch house.. with a double garage. Norberg Paints in Sioux Falls provided all the paint, brushes and rollers. Habitat for Humanity provided a trailer full of supplies. And the staff of Life 96.5 and Faith 1270.. along with some friends of the station completed the task in 8 hours. We started at about 9:45, and primed the entire exterior of the home by 12:45.. when we stopped for lunch. We then started up again.. with a smaller crew, but were able to put a single top coat, and trim out all the doors and windows by 6:15.
What’s great to see is how the homeowners are touched by the generosity of the workers. They’re overwhelmed. But what’s also rewarding is the blessing the volunteers receive from spending time thinking of someone else’s needs.. even if it’s just for a day.
It’s also fun. Stu Norberg gave us all the tips we needed to paint better. In fact he coached each of the teams for the entire morning.
