GARDEN GROVE, Calif. (AP) _ Vendors who provided services for the annual “Glory of Christmas” pageant at the Crystal Cathedral say they’re owed tens of thousands of dollars.

Church administrators sent an e-mail to vendors saying the Crystal Cathedral can’t afford to pay them.

The California megachurch is $55 million in debt and announced layoffs earlier this year.

One vendor who provided live animals for the pageant’s manger scene says the church owes her nearly $57,000. Another vendor who provided costumes says she’s owed more than $10,000.

The Crystal Cathedral was founded by the Rev. Robert Schuller, who had groomed his son to replace him.

The younger Schuller left after his father chose other hosts for the church’s weekly “Hour of Power” telecast.
