NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) _ Christian singer Michael W. Smith says the smell of death was in the air when he and his wife Debbie visited Haiti this month. But amid the suffering, he says it was inspiring to see the earthquake relief being provided by the Rev. Franklin Graham’s Samaritans Purse ministry.

Smith says he wrote music for the song “Come Together Now” four days after last month’s earthquake, and then knew “in his gut” that it was meant for Haiti. Christian music’s top artists came together to record the song and accompanying video. Smith says proceeds from the song will help Samaritans Purse and the American Red Cross rebuild Haiti.
