SAN ANTONIO (AP) _ Texas Baptists have set the table, Episcopalians are hosting, and they’re inviting Methodists, Catholics and all other faith groups to join in a quest to end hunger in San Antonio by 2012. The Texas Hunger Initiative is a collaboration of local, state and federal agencies that have worked together quietly for about a year.

Baylor University’s Jeremy Everett leads the initiative, which strives to wipe out hunger in the entire state by 2015.
He says Texas is No. 1 in childhood hunger and No 2 in food insecurity overall. Everett says San Antonio’s supportive mayor and strong food bank make it an ideal place to start.
